Karachi, January 31, 09: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and the Central Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party Ms Sherry Rehman condemned the assassination of the PPP Vice President Lahore Malik Imtiaz Shahid.

"As a colleague, I am deeply saddened on the gruesome murder of Mr Malik Imtiaz Shahid. It was indeed a cowardly act and the Government stands committed to nab the criminals," said Ms Sherry Rehman talking to the media in Karachi today.

The Federal Information Minister extended her government's condolences to the Mr Shahid's family and pledged to follow up the murder inquiry of the slain leader. "We share the grief of Mr Shahid family as he was an invaluable member of the Pakistan Peoples Party. The Federal Government will work with the Provincial Government in the investigation of the murder. We see his murder an attack on political institutions and it is important to take strong action against such crimes to protect the security of our citizens."
